Which Businesses Should Come to Tiverton and Little Compton?
Patch's informal survey turned up some conflicting opinions about new business in Tiverton.

TIVERTON, RI — Tiverton residents sounded conflicted when Patch asked them to name the businesses they'd like to see in Town. Trader Joe's, the supermarket, was the business mentioned most often, with nine supporters. But a number of people said they didn't want any more business in Town at all. The reason? They said they fear the arrival of stores and restaurants and companies will spoil Tiverton's charm.
Judy Croft said, "I would love to see something along the lines of downtown Bristol. Small businesses and eateries, but keep it quaint and true to the feel of Tiverton."
Michael Medeiros pointed out the commercial ventures could help keep property taxes in check, but, he cautioned, that's only in theory. His idea of an ideal business? "One that will lower the taxes but that will never happen," he said. "I say let's stop the d--- Casino."
