WARWICK, RI — The Warwick police say they have tracked down and arrested the man who prompted a lockdown of the Community College of Rhode Island by walking around with what appeared to be a firearm.
Nathan Randall, 41, was arrested Thursday on a charge of possessing a firearm as a mental incompetent and drug addict, the Warwick police said in a media release.

Randall also was arrested on four outstanding warrants.
The Community College of Rhode Island went on lockdown Tuesday morning after a "male carrying a backpack with what appeared to be a firearm partially exposed within the backpack" was spotted in the area of Commonwealth Avenue near the rear entrance of the school, the Warwick police previously said.

Police searched for the man throughout the day without success, but did locate a backpack containing an airsoft gun and a pellet rifle, according to a media release.

The police also said Tuesday they had "information" on the man they were looking for.

"Following the incident at CCRI on April 7, the Warwick Police Department conducted an in-depth investigation, gathering evidence and following up on leads to identify the individual involved," the release issued Thursday said. "The case was thoroughly reviewed to ensure appropriate charges were filed."
Randall's bail was set at $3,000 surety and he was scheduled to return to court May 11.
