• North Kingstown Man Charged With Possessing Crack Cocaine: Cops (patch.com) — Residents in West Warwick may notice increased police activity after state troopers arrested a North Kingstown man on Carrie Ann Drive late Friday night on a crack cocaine possession charge. The 32-year-old was processed at the Hope Valley Barracks, arraigned by a justice of the peace, and released with a future court date. 
• Andrew Sears makes MLB Debut with Detroit Tigers (theuconnblog.com) — West Warwick native Andrew Sears has reached the big leagues, making his Major League Baseball debut for the Detroit Tigers this past weekend. The former UConn left-hander, who once pitched at Rhode Island College, worked four innings in relief against the Kansas City Royals and became the 22nd Husky ever to appear in an MLB game.
