Future of former Conway Horry County Schools property in question after board decision (myhorrynews.com) — A former Horry County Schools building on Sherwood Drive in Conway remains in limbo after the school board refused to extend the closing date for its $1.65 million sale to Academy of Hope charter school. The charter says it relied on an apparently signed extension that was later rescinded, raising questions about what will happen next with the surplus Conway property.

Conway police investigating shooting on Smith Jones Street (myhorrynews.com) — Conway police are investigating a Tuesday night shooting around Smith Jones Street and Smith Jones Park that sent several people to local hospitals, though most injuries were minor. Officers say those involved don't appear to have known each other, and residents can expect an increased police presence in the area while investigators work to identify a suspect and understand what happened.

Highway 501 widening in Conway delayed until spring 2027; officials cite contract changes (wpde.com) — Highway 501's widening through the Conway area is now expected to drag on into spring 2027, extending lane closures and construction impacts well past the original November 2026 deadline. State transportation officials cite contract changes, summer lane-closure restrictions, and remaining drainage, signal, and paving work, while questions about added costs and any penalties for the contractor remain unanswered.
   

4. Conway church says it's mistakenly targeted after Netflix doc on Mica Miller case (wpde.com) — Mercy Baptist Church in Conway is pushing back after receiving angry calls, messages, and online comments from people confusing it with a Myrtle Beach church featured in a Netflix documentary about the Mica Miller case. Leaders stress they have no connection to pastor JP Miller or his ministry and worry the mistaken backlash could affect their child programs and supportive local businesses.
