Anderson University Welcomes Record Freshman Class

New group of students marks 6th record in a row as enrollment nears 3,000

660 new students began moving into their new homes on the Anderson University campus on Saturday, August 18th. When they join with returning students, it will push AU's enrollment toward the 3,000 mark.

A record 540 freshmen, (20 more than in 2011) and a record 120 transfer students (compared with 84 in 2011) will bring the University's enrollment to more than 2,800. Exact enrollment figures won't be compiled until mid-September.

As Anderson University begins another academic year, it does so with new facilities and a major new program. The first students in the University's new school of nursing will begin classes this fall. 32 traditional nursing students and 21 in the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) fill the available slots for AU's first nursing classes. They will meet in a brand new, state-of-the-art nurse education facility that features the most high-tech simulation equipment available and the first cadaver lab dedicated to undergraduate education in the region.

Classes begin on Wednesday, August 21. Freshmen will participate in a matriculation celbration on Sunday morning along with the ceremonial archway walk as they symbolically pass through the famed arches of Anderson University to commence their college years.
