Attempted-Murder Suspect Turns Himself in to Authorities

An Easley man wanted in the attempted murder of his stepbrother has turned himself in, Easley Progress reports.

The Pickens County Sheriff's Office said Derrick J. Goode, 42, of 123 21st Street, Easley, turned himself in Sunday night.

, then fled the scene. The bullet struck Thompson in the lower left side of his jaw, injuring his jaw and the back of his mouth, according to the incident report.

The victim was transported to Palmetto Baptist and underwent surgery and is expected to recover.

Thompson originally told deputies that he had shot himself with his stepbrother's revolver, but later recanted. A female witness at the scene alleged Goode had come home grossly intoxicated and shot Thompson after a brief verbal altercation between the two men.

Goode is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
