Help The Earth and Your Schools
Helping your planet doesn't mean you need throw away good money. See how you can help your local schools with much needed cash.

I want to thank the people of the community for keeping the earth safe by taking the time to wash their steel cans and plastics and taking them to the recycling places. After a recent trip to take my own recycling, I was amazed at how the steel bins were overflowing. That amazement was changed to shock after realizing how much money was being thrown away. Money thrown away, has this woman lost her mind? No, but others have. All cans have UPC codes. The area schools use these codes and exchange them for money or points. Campbells soup uses 1 pt and 5 pt system. Those UPC codes are exchanged for much needed school supplies. The Progresso cans of soup have actual money on them. Each Box Tops For Education label is worth 10 cents to the school. They collect and turn them in and Box Tops will send the school a check. ConAgra is collecting their UPC codes off of Ro-Tel tomatoes and other ConAgra products and participating schools (Hunt Meadows Elementary is one of them) turns them in to donate 1 meal to Feed America which feeds the hungry. Before you throw that plastic Coke bottle in the bins, take the time to collect the lid. Those numbers you see on the inside are Coke Rewards. The schools use them to exchange them for school supplies, magazines for the libraries, gym equipment, and so much more. So, while you do your part to help mother earth, take a few extra minutes to clip those UPC codes and send them to your nearest school. Hunt Meadows Elementary at 420 Hunt Road Easley 29642 will happily receive them. Collect them in an envelope and mail them or come by and leave them at the front office. Mostly all local schools participate in these programs. So take them to your closest school. You could potentially be throwing away thousands of dollars to save your local schools!
