Welcome to the Easily Easley Blog

Kids play "dodge ball." Adults play "dodge cars." God played with this day and created something beautiful. Today's blog takes a look at a morning drive, and how our perception can be changed.

Thank you for taking the time to read this blog. I currently write another blog called "Upside Down Christianity," (see my profile) but I will be bringing a similar message about Christianity, yet with some everyday items mixed in. The blog will be updated frequently, so please return to check back in often.

If you have something that you would like to ask me about anything I write, please feel free to.

Todays Topic: Playing Dodge Cars

I was taking my wife to work this morning and there were two cars that came up behind us very fast on I-85. They were constantly changing lanes and even as they continued up the road ahead of us, they almost ran into the back of several slower vehicles before (thankfully) switching to another open (for the moment) lane next to them. I was waiting for a big piece of car to go skyward in front of me and then I would know one of them didn't change lanes in time.

This got me to thinking. Life is like that for some of us.

We go through life in a hurry. We want to be the first there. We don't want to be late. We don't want to miss anything. But I ask you this question? How much did they miss going up the interstate while driving recklessly?

I know the answer most of you are going to give me. NOTHING. Except for billboards, exit signs and women putting on makeup in the rear view mirror. And in a way you are right. With the concentration it would have taken them to avoid a collision, they could not have seen anything in front of them except for the next vehicle to pass.

But I saw the sunrise. It was orange (go Clemson!) and brightly shining, as if to welcome me and get me fired up! I saw cars broke down on the side of the road with red tags posted on them so that they would be towed away. It gave me time to say a quick prayer for them that they can get whatever went wrong fixed.

I had the time to talk to my wife and share her fears and thoughts about her day without having to be glued to the road.

I had time to enjoy the morning drive, put the top down, and remember "let us rejoice today and be glad." Psalm 118:24b

What will you do the next time you are going somewhere? Will you drive like a possessed man/woman, dying (yep, you just might) to get there? Or will you stop and "smell the roses," (or at least the exhaust fumes) as you go down life's highway.

May God be with you and your life be blessed!
