Easley Man Arrested in Connection with Fatal Crash

An Easley man was taken into custody at a Columbia bus station

An Easley man has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that left an Anderson man dead, officials said.

Rufus Raiden III, 39, of Easley was taken into custody early monday morning by Columbia Police in connection with a crash that left 24-year-old Jeremy Ryan Crain dead.

"We were provided with some information and we notified Columbia Police Department and they were able to apprehend him at the Greyhound bus station," S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Bill Rhyne said.

The accident occured Saturday morning at approximately 1:18 a.m. Crain was traveling west on Pelzer highway when a pickup truck, traveling east, crossed left of center and struck his car head-on. The driver of the pickup truck then left the scene.

Raiden was taken into custody at approximately 1 a.m. and he is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center while he awaits extradition to Pickens County. No charges have been made against Raiden, Rhyne said.
