
A 22-year-old Easley man has been identified as the driver who died in a crash early Sunday morning.
David Mendel Waldrop, 22, of Easley has been identified as the victim of a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning, according to Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelly.
Waldrop was killed after he lost control of his 1996 Dodge Pickup truck while traveling north on U.S. Highway 123 approximately 9 miles south of Easley, S.C. Highway Patrol Trooper Billy Elder said.

Elder said Waldrop lost control of the vehicle, overcorrected and drove into the highway median. The vehicle then overturned and landed in the southbound lane. Waldrop was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kelley said the Waldrop had been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident but died of blunt force trauma to the head.

The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation, but Elders said speed was an issue.
