  1. The School District of Pickens County announced an increase in student meal prices. See the changes.
     
  2. The Easley Police Department is investigating a possible phone scam that could involve use of the victim's social security and bank information. Read more.
     
  3. As a precaution, Duke Energy inspected the dams at Jocassee, Keowee and Bad Creek and also checked the reactors at the Oconee Nuclear Plant, after an earthquake hit Richmond, Va., Tuesday afternoon. Read more. 
  4. Many local actors and actresses have been giving it their all for a chance to be cast in the next play at the Easley Foothills Playhouseduring this week's open auditions for the play 'Three Murders and it's Only Monday.' Read more.

  5. The Pickens County Library is offering free computer classes at various branches each month. In September the classes will be held at the Village Branch in Pickens. Read more.
  6. The School District of Pickens County Board of Trustees voted to approve the creation of six 4K classes and the addition of 2.5 new teaching positions during a meeting on Monday night. Read more.

  7. As Hurricane Irene approached the U.S. coastline last week, local authorities prepared to deal with heavy rains and strong winds caused by the storm. Read more.

  8. Easley Police have arrested two men involved in a strong armed robbery Monday night. Read more.

  9. A Liberty man pleaded guilty Wednesday to the charge of conspiracy to commit identity theft. Read more.

  10. The Easley High Junior Varsity football team lost a tough game to Daniel High School Thursday night. It was a tied game until the fourth quarter when Daniel rallied for a final score of 14-7.See the photos.

  11. Congressman Jeff Duncan, who represents South Carolina's 3rd District, addressed job creation and the U.S. debt ceiling among other issues facing the nation Thursday afternoon at the Easley-Powdersville Chamber of Commerce joint luncheon at Tri-County Technical College in Easley. Read more.

  12. Hurricane Irene brough high winds and strong surfs to the Lowcountry Friday. High tide was expected around 7 p.m., and an hour or so before that, many low-lying areas were already reaching flood stages. See the photos.

  13. The Easley High School Football team took home a second win for the season Friday night defeating Daniel High School 22-21. See the photos.
