Because of a conflict and misinterpretation of the South Carolina election law, over 200 candidates statewide were removed from the primary ballot. Many of those candidates are circulating petitions to be included on the November General Election ballot. Each one of these folks must get at least 5% of the registered voters in their district to sign a petition asking to be included in order to run.
Many candidates in other counties have obtained the required number, but several here in Pickens County still need more signatures.
