Fain will lead Pickens Elementary
West End Elementary Assistant Principal excited about new role

The SDPC board of trustees has named Dr. Allen Fain the new principal of Pickens Elementary School.
Fain has been assistant principal at West End Elementary School in Easley since 2007.
“I am very grateful to be chosen as the next principal at Pickens Elementary,” said Fain. “I look forward to working with the staff and community to establish a cohesive and positive school culture that promotes academic success among all students. I know that the staff is top notch and I look forward to leading them to continued excellence. “

Fain began his education career as a teacher and coach at Parkwood Middle School in Monroe, North Carolina in 1998. He then taught for six years at Calhoun Elementary School/Calhoun Academy of the Arts in Anderson before becoming an assistant principal. He also coached at T.L. Hanna High School at the same time.
Dr. Henry Hunt, superintendent, said, “Dr. Fain has served very effectively at West End Elementary as assistant principal, and I am confident he will do a great job at Pickens Elementary. I want to wish Dr. Fain much success as he steps into the principalship of PES.”

In 1998 Fain graduated from Limestone College with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He earned a master’s degree from Furman University in 2006 and a doctorate degree from Gardner Webb University in 2012.
Fain will succeed Dr. Del Freitag, who has been named principal of McKissick Elementary School in Easley.
