Gray told police, "I know I was in the wrong, go ahead and cuff me." His hand and face were covered in blood and he had a laceration on his forehead, according to the police report.

Gray's father, 71, told police that Gray had struck him several times in the face and body with his fists after an argument about an incident involving Gray's child the night before.

Gray then went to the kitchen and grabbed a butcher knife and held the knife to his throat and threatened to kill him several times, police said. Gray's brother pulled him off of their father and Gray began fighting with him, police said.

Gray's father pulled out his old service rifle and struck Gray in the forehead with the stock of the rifle, according to police.

Gray was transported to the emergency room at Palmetto Baptist Hospital, where he received stitches. Police arrested Gray after his treatment and issued a trespass notice from the family's residence.
