Firefighters Raised Over $7k for Jeffrey Chavis House

Annual fundraiser was a great success

The Easley Fire Department annual boot-drive fundraiser for the Jeffrey Vaden Chavis House raised $7,344.43 last weekend.

"It was the best we've ever done," Firefighter Shannon Dales said. "At least $2,000 more than we've ever collected."

19 Easley firefighters took to the streets on Saturday armed with empty boots to collect donations from residents across the city. The department holds the drive each year to raise money for the Jeffrey Vaden Chavis House at the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta, GA.

"It's amazing with the economy the way it is and that people will still give," Dales said.

Firefighters collected donations at Walmart, Belks, the intersections of Powdersville Road and Calhoun Memorial Highway and Main and Pendleton Streets all day on Saturday.
