Green Wave Jamboree Is Tomorrow

Easley faces Travelers Rest at 6pm in first event at new high school stadium

The first event at the new Easley High School stadium will be the Jamboree tomorrow night.

The Green Wave will take on Travelers Rest at 6pm Thursday, August 9.

Athletic Director Chris Carter said the team has been making waves in the pre-season with trips to Chapman, Clover and Berea.

Carter said the school has a major asset in head football coach Chad Smith.

“His philosophy is 'We're going to be more physical than you and you can't stop us',” Carter said. “We throw two passes. We throw one when we throw the ball at the game's start and we throw one when we throw the ball off the field at the end of the game. (Against Clover), we ran 67 plays for 1,079 yards. 67 plays for 1,079 yards and 14 touchdowns.”

“How do you get good? You have a philosophy,” Carter said. “You have a vision and having a vision allows you to be patient.”

After the home Jamboree, the Green Wave travels to Gaffney for a scrimmage on August 11.

The Green Wave's first regular season game will be at Pickens on August 17. This game is the Sam Wyche Food Fight Bowl, which raises money for Pickens County Meals on Wheels. The game starts at 8pm.

On August 24, the Green Wave plays its first home game of the regular season, taking on the Daniel Lions. The game starts at 7:30pm, as does all other regular season games.

They'll play at Seneca at 7:30pm on August 31, before taking on Wren at home on September 7.

September 14 is a bye week for Easley.

On September 21, they'll play at home against Laurens before facing Hanna at home on September 28.

Then it's three weeks of away games for the Green Waves: Oct. 5 at Westside, Oct. 12 at Woodmont and Oct. 19 at Greenwood.

The Green Wave return home to face Hillcrest on October 26.

Their last game of the regular season will at J.L. Mann on November 2.
