Holly Springs One of 3 Blue Ribbon Schools in S.C.

Holly Springs Elementary School is one of 3 S.C. schools given the Blue Ribbon award.

Pickens County's Holly Springs Elementary is one of three S.C. elementary schools to be named a 2011 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education on Thursday.

Nationally, 305 schools were named Blue Ribbon Schools for being ranked the state's highest performing schools or schools with at least 40 percent of students from disadvantaged backgrounds that have improved student performance.

The other S.C. schools to be recognized were Gadsden Elementary in Richland District 1 and Townsend Elementary in Anderson District 4.
