Honda Annexation Delayed
The city has postponed the annexation of the Honda property while an issue with the property's contiguity is addressed.

The second reading for the annexation of two properties owned by the local Honda dealership is on hold while an oversight in the property survey is resolved.
The two properties, owned by HRS Properties of the Upstate, LLC, are located on Calhoun Memorial Highway and Cardinal Drive. The Honda dealership at 4589 Calhoun Memorial Highway is not contiguous with city limits, and apparently neither is the adjacent property on Cardinal Drive.
"We found out when we had it resurveyed that there was a little piece of land that kept it from being contiguous- about 690 sq. ft.," Easley Building Official Tommy Holcombe said.

The second reading for the annexation was originally scheduled for Monday night during the monthly city council meeting.
"We've postponed it for 30 days," Holcombe said.

The Easley Planning Commission first reviewed the annexation proposal on July 18. Based on the city's maps it appeared that the company's property on Cardinal Drive was contiguous with city limits, but further investigation revealed a small sliver of privately owned property was separating it from the city.
"Honda has bought the small piece," Holcombe said.
The Planning Commission will discuss the matter further during the next meeting on Monday night at 5:30 p.m.
