KP Components to Bring 50 Jobs to Easley

A Denmark-based manufacturer has announced the addition of a new facility in Easley

KP Components announced the addition of a new facility in Easley which is expected to create 50 new high-tech jobs.

KP Components Inc., a CNC precision machining supplier based in Denmark, said it will invest $10 million in the new facility which will be located in an existing building on Pelzer Highway in Easley.

"We selected this location in the U.S. because of our company’s extensive competence in the manufacture of components for the global hydraulics industry, as well as our strong relationships with existing U.S. customers," said Stig Skov Laursen, CEO of KP Components Inc.

The company's first U.S. facility will produce hydraulic components used in farm equipment, heavy equipment and wind power turbines.

"South Carolina shows once again that it’s a globally competitive place for investment," said Governor Nikki Haley. "We celebrate KP Components Inc.’s decision to create dozens of new, well-paying jobs here and we welcome them to the South Carolina business community."

The announcement is welcomed news to a state where unemployment has continued to climb in recent months. The S.C. unemployment rate rose to 11.1 percent in August, well above the National average of 9.1 percent.

KP Component's announcement rides closely on the announcement of the Michigan-based manufacturer JR Automation Technologies pending addition of 54 jobs over the next five years.

Gov. Haley has been courting foreign companies and most recently made a European trip in efforts to recruit new potential employers. The governor's office reported today that foreign companies have invested more than $800 million and brought 1,400 new jobs to South Carolina.
