Locals Earn Academic Scholarships from USC Upstate
Easley students earn Metropolitan, Transfer Scholarships

The University of South Carolina Upstate recently announced incoming freshman students who have received various academic scholarships. The University of South Carolina Upstate is a coeducational, public, comprehensive metropolitan institution that is located in Spartanburg along the thriving economic I-85 corridor between Atlanta and Charlotte. USC Upstate is home to 5,500 students from 38 states and 71 nations. It offers challenging, first-rate academic courses, small class sizes, personal experiences, remarkable diversity, an expansive international community, and a dynamic campus life.
Metropolitan Scholarships
Metropolitan Scholarships are $1,500 scholarships that are awarded annually to entering freshmen who meet the following criteria: present a minimum SAT I score of *1,100 or ACT score of 24, rank in top 30% of their high school class and minimum GPA of 3.25.

Chandler Page Galloway of Easley received the Metropolitan Scholarship and he plans to pursue a degree in business. A graduate of Pickens High School, he was involved with Beta Club, Interact Club and Spanish Honors Society. He is the son of Dawn and Jeff Galloway.
Transfer Scholarships

Transfer Scholarships are $2,000 scholarships that are awarded annually to entering transfer students (coming from two-year colleges) who have earned at least 60 semester hours of transferable credit OR have earned Associate of Arts or Science degrees from an accredited college. Candidates must have a minimum GPA of 3.50. This scholarship is available to the recipient for two academic years.
Jayme S. Lively of Easley received the USC Upstate Transfer Scholarship and she plans to pursue a degree in early childhood education. She is transferring from Greenville Technical College.
