Cleanup expected to be done by time teachers return to Gettys Middle School on Tuesday

Those preparing Pickens County school facilities for the return of students, faculty and staff later this month were thrown an extra challenge when mold was discovered at Gettys Middle School.
WYFF 4 reports that an environmental cleanup crew began working at Gettys Middle School on Thursday and has been working through the weekend to clean up the mold, which was found in several seventh grade classrooms.
The cleanup is expected to be complete before teachers return to their classrooms on Tuesdays. Students return on August 21.

Gettys Middle School will hold its Meet the Teacher events on Tuesday as well.
7th and 8th grade students should report to the school gym between 11am and 2pm. 6th graders are asked to attend between 4pm and 7pm.

During the Meet the Teacher event, families can pick up their student schedules, meet their teachers, tour the school and find out more information about the school nurse, PTO, cafeteria, as well as car and bus procedures all before the first day of school.
After visiting the gym area, families are asked to proceed to their child's classrooms to visit their classroom teachers and especially their first period teacher or homeroom teacher that will be distributing important information to all families.
