Firefighters searched the attic to make sure the fire had not spread into it, then remained on the scene performing salvage and overhaul.

The apartment and its contents were heavily damaged, Rowland said.

Firefighters were unable to determine if the apartment had any smoke detectors, Rowland said.

Neither the occupants nor the firefighters were injured in the fire, he said.

The fire has been ruled accidental, Rowland said.

Easley police assisted with traffic and crowd control and Easley Combined Utilities disconnected the power from the apartment.
