No One Injured in Sunday Fire

Easley firefighters able to put out blaze soon after arrival

Easley firefighters responded to a structure fire on Sunday evening and were able to put out the blaze within ten minutes of arrival.

Captain J.D. Willis said firefighters responded to the structure fire at 106 McScott Court at 7:18 p.m. On Sunday, August 5.

After extinguishing the fire, firefighters performed salvage and overhaul operations and removed smoke from the residence, Willis said.

No one was home at the time of the fire, he said. Smoke detectors were activated in the home.

No one was injured as a result of the fire, Willis said.

Two pumper trucks and a service unit responded to the fire, he said.

A number of agencies assisted Easley firefighters at the scene. Willis said Pickens County EMS responded as a precaution. Easley Combined Utilities assisted by turning off the power to the home.

Easley police responded to the scene and the Pickens County Sheriff's Office responded for reporting purposes, Willis said.

The American Red Cross came to the scene to assist the household members.

The cause of the fire appears to be accidental, but the Pickens County Sheriff's Office is also investigating the fire, Willis said.
