Registration Open for Electrical Wiring Certification
Tri-County Technical College Certification Program begins Sept. 11

Registration is now open for Tri-County Technical College’s Electrical Wiring Certificate program that is designed for individuals who want to prepare for careers as electricians.
The first module, Electrical Wiring I, will be held September 11 - October 11 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 - 9 pm at the Pendleton Campus.
“Students will begin with learning theory and will advance to Ohm's Law, magnetism, safety and tools, wiring methods, services, motors, inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting,” says Master Electrician and instructor Randy Jameson. “They will begin at point zero and by the time they’ve completed the program, they will be an electrician that will not only know how, but why.”

In addition to students who want to prepare for a career as an electrician, this class will benefit contractors and the untrained electricians that they employ. The classes are an excellent opportunity to improve the quality and production of their employee’s work and it will allow the employee to be knowledgeable of the Electrical Code and to be able to communicate with the local building inspector.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2012-13 Edition, employment of electricians is expected to grow 23 percent from 2010 to 2020, faster than the average for all occupations. Homes and businesses need more wiring than ever before, and electricians will be needed to install the necessary components. Overall growth of the construction industry and maintenance of older equipment in manufacturing plants also will require more electricians.
