School Bus Driver Charged in Accident

Driver has been placed on administrative leave pending investigation.

The driver of a school bus involved in a crash on Tuesday that injured ten Easley students has been charged and placed on administrative leave.

52-year-old Rebecca Marie Jones Reeves has been charged with failure to yield the right of way when the bus she was driving collided with an SUV at the intersection of West A Avenue and Highway 135 in Easley Tuesday morning.

The School District of Pickens County has placed Reeves on administrative leave pending an internal investigation, according to school officials.

Ten students were injured in the crash and were transported to two area hospitals. Seven students were taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital and three were taken to Baptist Easley Hospital, school officials said. 

Five of the students attended McKissick Elementary, one attended Gettys Middle and four attended Easley High School, officials said.

All ten students were released from the hospital Tuesday after they were treated for minor scrapes and bruises. Officials said X-Ray exams found no broken bones or other internal injuries.
