SWU Homecoming honors 107-year heritage with vision for the future

Generations came together during Southern Wesleyan University’s 2013 Homecoming, a movie-themed event titled “Scene 107” for 107 continuous years of providing educational excellence in a Christian environment.

Laura Tossey Austin, a Southern Wesleyan graduate, was on hand to talk about and screen “Turned Upside Down,” a film she wrote and produced with her husband Chris. Alumni and their families shared memories over a meal during one of several Homecoming luncheons, and youngsters as well as the “young-at-heart” enjoyed games on the campus.

This past Friday night, the new Warrior mascot was introduced during the Men’s Soccer game. Bob Cooley, who was the original mascot in 1970, donned the mascot suit and greeted the fans. On Saturday, Athletic Director Chris Williams honored Cooley and his wife Norma, as well as members of the Wood and Thomas families whose support made the new mascot possible.
