Team Pickens County To Attend County Council Meeting April 21 Regarding Animal Cruelty

Travis Garner and the group he belongs to, Team Pickens County, is on a mission - to stop animal cruelty in Pickens County, to reduce the good old boy mentality where it applies to companion animals, and to bring Pickens County Animal Control into the 21st Century.

He and his group, Team Pickens County will be attending the next Pickens County Council Meeting, Monday, April 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Pickens Administration Auditorium, which is located in the Pickens County Government Complex at 222 McDaniel Avenue in Pickens.

Kim Jackson, another Team Pickens County member, will be speaking to the council on behalf of the group. It is hoped that Council will agree to work with Team Pickens County and other concerned citizens in strengthening laws regarding animal cruelty and animal control. Over the last several years a number of incidents have been reported in the media, including one on WSPA where a 17 year old cat was picked up and euthenized the same day, despite state laws that mandate a five day waiting period on stray animals to give owners time to reclaim their animals.
