• Midlands on the Move returns with Okra Strut, Carnaval del Barrio and Jubilee events (wach.com) — The Lexington Health Irmo Okra Strut returns to Moore Park this Friday and Saturday, bringing live music, a parade, rides, food, and family activities right in Irmo. Residents are encouraged to use COMET's Route 83L and special shuttles as Midlands on the Move also spotlights other upcoming cultural festivals in Columbia. 
• Country artist Collin Raye comes to Irmo (thenewirmonews.com) — Irmo residents can catch country star Collin Raye live this Friday, Sept. 25, at Harbison Theatre as part of Okra Strut weekend, with fewer than 50 tickets left. The intimate acoustic show, tied to Irmo's signature festival, will also feature local opener Becki McLeod and discounts for students, seniors, military, and multi-show buyers.
• Latest SC high football media poll: New team occupies top of Class 4A rankings (charlotteobserver.com) — Irmo High's Yellow Jackets have dropped to No. 3 in the latest Class 4A statewide football poll after an overtime loss to Dorman, while Westside takes over the top spot. The rankings also track movement for Dutch Fork and other Midlands and South Carolina programs across all classifications.
