• Victim dies days after July 4 ATV accident in Laurens County, coroner says (foxcarolina.com) — Laurens County officials report that 49-year-old Wesley Gillian of Clinton died at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital days after a July 4 ATV crash on Lake Road. The accident happened around 8:26 p.m. on July 4, and the death was reported July 6. The South Carolina Highway Patrol and Laurens County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate.
   

• Laurens County Sheriff's Office to Host Community Blood Drive Aug. 20 (whosonthemove.com) — Laurens County residents are invited to donate blood at a Sheriff’s Office drive on Thursday, Aug. 20, from 8:30 to 11 a.m. in the front parking lot. Partnering with The Blood Connection, organizers say one donation can help save up to three lives, and donors will receive $40 in rewards. Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome.
   

• Greenville County Stays in Severe Drought as Statewide Conditions Worsen (whosonthemove.com) — Laurens County is currently classified in moderate drought as South Carolina’s dry, hot conditions worsen and more than 30 counties move into severe drought. State officials warn that without more rain, some areas could reach extreme drought later this summer, urging residents to conserve water early and follow burning regulations closely.
