2 Die After Car Hits Sign in West Columbia

Two people died Tuesday night after the car they were riding in ran off the road and hit a sign in West Columbia, according to the Lexington County Coroner's Office. 

Ashley Brittner, 22, of West Columbia and Michael A. Cason, 53, of Lexington both died from injuries the sustained during the crash, according to the coroner's office. 

The driver of the car was transported to Palmetto Health Richland for treatment.

The driver, Brittner and Cason were in a Ford Fiesta on Meeting Street when the car ran off the road and ran into a sign at Goodwill at 1008 Meeting Street, according to the coroner's office. Brittner was in the front passenger seat, and Cason was in the back.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and West Columbia Police Department are investigating the crash.
