Bid for District 18 Seat a Three-Way Race
Former WIS anchor Kara Gormley Meador files to run in the race to unseat incumbent Sen. Ronnie Cromer.

Former WIS anchor and reporter Kara Gormley Meador has filed to challenge Sen. Ronnie Cromer for the District 18 senate seat, WIS reports.
Meador had wanted to run in District 23 against incumbent Sen. Jake Knotts, but recent redistricting put her residence outside Knott's district. Meador had made a name for herself at WIS for her reporting about Knotts.
The Republican race for Cromer's seat will become a three-way contest. In addition to the incumbent and Meador, the race for the nomination will also feature Lexington attorney and former county Republican party chairman Rich Bolen.
Dist. 18 covers parts of Lexington County, all of Newberry County, and part of Union County.
Gormley's filing on Friday came on the last day that candidates could do so. The Republican party primary for the seat, and all others throughout the state will be held June 12.
