Brown, Godleski Lead Top-ranked Lexington to a 4-1 Win Over No. 6 Wando
Lexington improved to 3-1 with its 4-1 over Wando on Saturday.
Georgetown, S.C. – Matt Godleski and Jordan Buster combined on a two-hitter with 13 strikeouts and Ryan Brown belted a two-run homer that helped top-ranked Lexington to a 4-1 win over 6th-ranked Wando in third round action in the 2013 International Paper High School Baseball Classic at Mike Johnson Park on Saturday.
Lexington, which plays at 10 a.m. on Sunday against an opponent to be determined, improved to 3-1. Wando fell to 2-3.
Godleski (1-0) picked up the win in relief of starter Jordan Buster allowing no runs on just one hit with 10 strikeouts over the final 4 1/3 innings. Godleski's last eight outs of the game were strikeouts. Buster surrendered only a solo homer with three strikeouts over the first 2 2/3 innings. Michael Carpin (0-1) suffered the loss allowing four runs, two earned, on four hits with three strikeouts while going the distance.

After Troy Rosado gave Wando a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning with a solo homer to center field, Lexington’s Cole McMillan, who had walked and stole second base, scored to tie the game at 1-all on a field error in the bottom of the second. David Barboza’s sacrifice fly in the fourth gave Lexington the lead for good at 2-1.
Brice Kirven walked with one out in the fifth inning and Brown belted the next pitch over the right field wall for the final margin.

Brown finished 1-for-2 with a run scored and two RBI while Nick Ciuffo, Dalton Addy and David Barboza added hits.
The Warriors managed only Rosado’s homer and a one-out single in the seventh.
