Cinderella, Tiana & Rapunzel - Oh, My!

Get a sneak peek at who performs along with some great insight on what it takes to put on a show of this caliber. Plus, photos of a cute kid with a princess will always bring a smile to your face!

Bryce and I were very honored to attend a Disney on Ice: Dare to Dream Q & A before opening night.  Talk about a dream come true for a little 3 year old!

Our Disney journey begun with a long walk down the halls of the Colonial Life Area into a private room.  Sitting at a head table were 3 cast members along with the tour coordinator.  Immediately my 3 year old looked up and whispered, "Where are the princesses?"

Little did she know that Ariel and Princess Jasmine where right before her eyes; just in regular clothing!

The amazing behind the scenes of the cast members' lives left me speechless.  Disney on Ice tours for approximately 9 to 10 months a year when they're stateside; longer if they're going overseas.  And what exactly goes into putting on a Disney ice show?

Work; lots of work!

It takes approximately 6 weeks to build and rehearse a show.  After that, the skaters' practice schedules varies from week to week.  If a group number needs some work, the whole gang comes in and practices for about 2 hours a day.  When things go smoothly, the skaters are able to hit the ice for solo practices to work out their routine.

Amazingly enough, despite the constant travel, hours dedicated to learning and perfecting dance sequences; these performers still find time to get out and explore the new cities they tour in.  Their favorite outing?  Trying to find the best local food joints!  One can only hope someone mentioned Groucho's to them!

After our Q & A a special guest came out for a photo op with the children.  You could hear a collective gasp when Cinderella herself walked out in her shiny blue gown and a warm smile on her face.  Bryce was in heaven!  And I will admit, it took a lot of will power for me not to go up and give her a hug!  Come on, you should already know what a Disney fan I am...

The show itself was more than I hoped for.  Entertaining skate routines, a good bit of audience interaction and did you know Mickey & Minnie made a few guest appearances?!  But my absolute favorite part of that 120 minute show was the aerial performance during Rapunzel's story.  It was a lot more than a dangle inches over the ice while kicking your skates.  At one point my daughter grabbed my hand and loudly said, "I want to fly, too!"

I looked at her and immediately answered, "So do I!"
