Conway Outlasts Lexington 4-1 at I.P. Classic
Lexington, which fell to 2-1, takes on 6th-ranked Wando at 1:30 on Saturday in third round action in the I.P. Classic. Conway improved to 3-0 and plays 4th-ranked Mauldin on Saturday.
Georgetown, S.C. – Jordan Gore pitched a complete-game and scattered seven hits while G.K. Young homered and drove in two runs that helped 5th-ranked Conway to a 4-1 win over top-ranked Lexington in the second round of the 2013 International Paper High School Baseball Classic on Friday at Mike Johnson Park.

Young doubled in a run in the top of the fourth inning that gave the Tigers a 3-0 and hit a solo homer to right in the top of the seventh for the final margin.

Gore (1-0), who threw 98 pitches, was the winner allowing a run with a walk and nine strikeouts. Cole McMillan (0-1) suffered the loss surrendering two runs on just one hit with two walks over the first 3 2/3 innings.
With Lexington trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Nick Ciuffo led off with a double and Zack Paquette and Cole McMillan reached on infield hits to load the bases with no outs. Conway escaped damage when Gore got a strikeout and a double play to end the threat.

Lexington’s lone run came on Dalton Addy’s two-out RBI single to right in the fifth inning that scored courtesy runner Elliott Lance and cut Conway’s advantage to 3-1. Paquette paced Lexington's seven-hit attack with two hits while Reece Burnett and Ciuffo added doubles.
