Josh Reagan, Lexington Down Lugoff-Elgin 6-1 in Playoff Opener; Host Ashley Ridge Friday

Lexington plays host to Ashley Ridge at 7:00 on Friday in second round playoff action.

Lexington, S.C. -- Lefty Josh Reagan had a season-high 12 strikeouts and David Barboza, Nick Ciuffo and Ryan Brown added two hits each the helped top-ranked Lexington to a 6-1 win over Lugoff-Elgin in the opening game of the District 5 AAAA high school baseball playoffs at Wildcats Field on Thursday.

Lexington, which improved to 21-4, plays host to defending state champion Ashley Ridge in second round play at 7 p.m. Friday. Ashley Ridge beat Cane Bay 5-3 in nine innings on Thursday.  The Demons fell to 10-13.

Barboza had a RBI single, Cody Smith a run-scoring double and Dalton Addy added an RBI single that highlighted the Wildcats' four-run second inning that gave Lexington a 4-0 lead.

Ciuffo, who extended his hitting streak to 24 games, lined a two-out, two-run double to left center in the fourth inning that scored Addy and Brown for the final margin.  Ciuffo added a single in the sixth inning.  Barboza and Brown added doubles as part of the Wildcats' 9-hit attack.

Reagan (8-0) picked up the win allowing only an unearned run on just three hits with one walk over the first six innings.  Zack Bowers (3-4) suffered the loss surrendering six runs on seven hits over four innings.
