Lexington County Museum's Artifact of the Week: Feb. 10-16
Highlighted artifact from the collections of the Lexington County Museum.
This week's artifact is a ca. 1845 Boston rocker made in Columbia, SC by Milo Hoyt Berry (1819-1907). The chair is made of either gum or tupelo and has a painted back rail. Berry signed the bottom of the seat. It was originally owned by Nancy Wingard Corley (1805-1903), wife of Samuel Corley. Nancy Corley was the great great grandmother of the wife of the donor.
See this artifact and more at the Lexington County Museum, located at 231 Fox Street in downtown Lexington. Visit www.lex-co.sc.gov/museum for more information. Check back next week for another exciting artifact!
