Lexington County Museum's Artifact of the Week: Feb. 3-9

Highlighted artifact from the collection of the Lexington County Museum.

This week's highlighted artifact is a plate made by the Fraunfelter China Company in Zanesville Ohio around 1920.  It was used in the Batesburg Hotel, formerly located at the corner of Pine Street and Railroad Avenue, that was owned by Mrs. Mary Perry Boatwright Nutt in the early 20th century.  A plate like this would have served an appetizer or salad to hungry travelers.  The Batesburg Hotel was particularly famous at the time for it's waffles.

See this artifact and more at the Lexington County Museum, located at 231 Fox Street in downtown Lexington. Visit www.lex-co.sc.gov/museum for more information. Check back next week for another exciting artifact!

Also, thanks to those that came to our fundraiser last Saturday.  It was a blast!  We appreciate the support.
