Lexington County Museum's Artifact of the Week: Jan. 13-19
Highlighted artifact from the collections of the Lexington County Museum

This week's artifact is a cow bone carved into the shape of a heart by Eli Wessinger (1810-1886) while he was a prisoner of war at Hart's Island in New York during the Civil War. Wessinger served in Company K in the 13th South Carolina Volunteer Infantry. The heart also features the names of two of Wessinger's children carved into it.
