Lexington County Museum's Artifact of the Week: March 10-17

Highlighted artifact from the collection of the Lexington County Museum.

This week's highlighted artifact is a pair of silver sugar tongs made by John Veal.

Veal was a silversmith who lived and worked in Columbia, SC from around 1825 to 1857, where he also worked as a jeweler. Citizens in Lexington may have purchased silver items such as this on trips to Columbia.

See this artifact and more at the Lexington County Museum, located at 231 Fox Street in downtown Lexington. Visit www.lex-co.sc.gov/museum for more information.
