Lexington Knocks Off Dutch Fork 9-2; Wins Sixth Straight
Dalton Addy led Lexington's 13-hit attack with three hits.
Irmo, S.C. – Dalton Addy collected three hits and Ryan Brown, Brandon Camp and Cody Smith added two hits each that helped top-ranked Lexington to a 9-2 win over Dutch Fork in Regin 5-AAAA high school baseball action at Dutch Fork Field on Tuesday.
Lexington, which won its sixth in a row, improved to 18-3 overall and 9-0 in region action. The Silver Foxes fell to 11-10 and 5-4. The Wildcats play at Irmo at 6:30 on Wednesday.
Brown, Addy and Nick Ciuffo led off the game with singles and Zach Paquette delivered a sacrifice fly to right field that scored Brown and gave Lexington a 1-0 lead. David Barboza, Camp and Jordan Buster added run-scoring hits to give the Wildcats a 4-0 advantage in the top of the first inning.
Lexington extended its lead to 6-1 in the third inning on Smith's two-out, two-run double to right center that scored Cole McMillan and Buster. Addy reached on a bunt single and Ciuffo walked to start the fourth inning. Addy eventually scored on an error to give Lexington a 7-1 advantage.
The Wildcats added a pair of runs in the sixth inning. Smith led off with a bunt single and, after Addy reached on a bunt single, he scored on a throwing error. Addy scored on Ciuffo's run-producing grounder to give Lexington a 9-2 lead.
Josh Reagan (7-0) earned the win allowing a pair of runs on six hits with six strikeouts over five innings. Ethan Hinkle suffered the loss allowing six runs on nine hits over the first three innings.
Ciuffo and Brown extended their hitting streaks to 20 games. Addy finished the game 3-for-4 and scored three times, Brown and Addy went 2-for-4 and Smith went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Lane Ecton and Will Thomas went 2-for-4 for the Silver Foxes.
