Lexington Outslugs White Knoll 14-9; Finishes Season Undefeated in Region Play
Lexington closes out regular season play at A.C. Flora on Monday at 7 p.m.
Lexington, S.C. -- Ryan Brown and Brand Camp collected three hits each and Nick Ciuffo, Dalton Addy and Cole McMillan added two hits each that helped top-ranked Lexington outslug White Knoll 14-9 in Region 5-AAAA high school baseball action at White Knoll Field on Thursday.
Lexington, which won its eighth in a row and finished the season 10-0 in league play for the second straight year, improved to 20-3 overall. The Timberwolves fell to 9-13 and 2-8. Lexington closes out regular season play at A.C. Flora on Monday at 7:00.
Lexington rallied from a three-run third inning deficit on Brown's three-run double with two outs that tied the game at 8-all. The Wildcats scored the go-ahead run on a passed pall in the fifth inning then added two runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh for a 14-8 lead.
Brown finished 3-for-4, scored three times and drove in three runs while Camp went 3-for-3, scored twice and had an RBI. Ciuffo was 2-for-3, walked twice and drove in a run, Addy was 2-for-4 and scored three times and McMillan drove in two runs with a pair of doubles in five trips to the plate.
White Knoll got two hits each from Chase Huffstetler, Wesley Williams and Delvin Riley as part of its 12-hit attack. Ciuffo and Brown extended their hitting streaks to 22 games as part of Lexington's 13-hit performance.
Elliot Lance (2-0) picked up the win in relief allowing two runs on five hits over 4 1/3 innings. Brandon Dickerson (2-1) suffered the loss in relief allowing six runs, two earned, on eight hits over 4 2/3 innings.
