Lexington Plays Host To Lugoff-Elgin In AAAA District 5 Playoff Opener On Thursday
First pitch at Wildcats Field is set for 7 p.m.

Lexington, S.C. – For the second consecutive season, top-ranked Lexington opens AAAA District 5 high school baseball playoff action at home against Lugoff-Elgin. First pitch on Thursday is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Wildcats Field. Lexington enters the game with a 20-4 record while the Demons are 10-12.
Lexington will pitch senior lefty Josh Reagan. Reagan is 7-0 with a 1.54 ERA. He’s allowed 33 hits over 41 innings while striking out 43 and walking only eight. The Demons counter with junior right-hander Zack Bowers. Bowers is 3-3 with a 1.01 ERA. Bowers has allowed only 29 hits and recorded 52 strikeouts over 48 2/3 innings of work.
The Wildcats knocked off the Demons 13-3 in last spring’s District 5 playoff opener at home behind the pitching of Reagan and a fifth-inning outburst. The Wildcats scored nine times in the bottom of the fifth inning to end the game. Lexington’s Nick Ciuffo went 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBI, while current Spartanburg Methodist JC standout Collin Steagall drove in three runs with three hits. Reagan went the distance allowing three runs, one earned, on seven hits with five strikeouts.

The Wildcats play host to either Ashley Ridge or Cane Bay on Saturday.
