Lexington Plays Host To Rival South Aiken in Lower State Finals Friday
First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Lexington, S.C. -- Top-ranked Lexington plays host to Region 5-AAAA rival South Aiken in the Lower State high school baseball championship at 6 p.m. Friday. The Wildcats need one win to reach the state finals for the 12th time in school history. The Thoroughbreds have to beat Lexington twice to advance.
South Aiken (20-10), ranked 10th, eliminated Sumter 8-7 on Wednesday erasing a 6-5 deficit by scoring three times in the bottom of the sixth inning. Stokes Griffith’s two-out, two-run single in the sixth gave South Aiken a 7-6 lead. Josh Kiser scored on a balk that stretched the T-Breds lead to 8-6. Righty Taylor Widener, expected to start against Lexington on Friday, earned the save working the seventh inning. He allowed a run but stranded the tying run at second base.
Lexington (25-4) is coming off a 4-1 win over South Aiken on Monday. Josh Reagan (9-0) pitched his fourth complete game of the season allowing a run with no walks and eight strikeouts. Nick Ciuffo went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs.
