Next Food Network Star?

The Next Food Network Star could be found right here in the Midlands!

I wear many hats and have many titles.  Ranking in the top three of my favorites is, hands down, Foodie.  I love all things food.  Buying it, preparing it, eating it, photographing it, blogging about it.  The list goes on.  Whether you're a novice or experienced home cook, learning to make a dish can be a daunting task.  A good recipe is only part of the equation.  The art of cooking involves a myriad of tricks and techniques that, once mastered, will allow you to conquer any recipe your heart desires.

Gone are the Saturday mornings of Julia Child (sniff, sniff).  We now follow and kneel to the food Gods of Food Network, Cooking Channel, and other culinary kings and queens to bestow their expertise upon us and heighten our confidence in the kitchen.

So, who are the other culinary kings and queens you ask?  In my neck of the woods, we have recently welcomed Charleston Cooks! A kitchen retail shop with a teaching kitchen offering both demonstration and participation classes.  For those wanting to hone their culinary skills and take it up a notch, I highly recommend taking a class.  Lead by culinary instructor David Marlow, he and his team deliver two hours of a hands-on, fun-filled cooking experience.  Leave your fears and intimidation at home.  The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable and lends itself to an enjoyable cooking and dining excursion.  The best part - YOU don't have to clean up!

Here's a peek at some of the deliciousness we served up at the recent Kitchen Fundamentals 5: Fish and Shellfish class.  I'm happy to report that ALL dishes came out quite tasty, no injuries were had (ah-hem), and the local fire department did not have to be summoned.  A great time was had by all.  Visit Charleston Cooks! Here.  I hope to see you in the kitchen.

The Menu

Pickled Shrimp Salad
Mussels in White Cream Sauce with Garlic Crostini
