Cheap wood cleaner

As the mother of 7 children ranging in age from 34 to a set of 12 year old twins, I am always looking for ways to save money.  I can honestly say that I have not found help in cutting coupons like most women as with 5 children still at home and a job, I just don’t have the time.  Making inexpensive meals and saving on cleaning and laundry products has become a way of life for me over the past 13 years.  Almost two years ago I started as the Director of Community Relations for a 33 year old nonprofit in Lexington(LICS) that has been providing support to individuals and families struggling to meet their basic needs.   This along with my large family prompted me to start this blog…….so here goes.

When my son was three he decided to spray a harsh cleaner on my great grandmothers China Hutch.  It left a white film which I was unable to remove until I found this inexpensive solution. Take ¾ cup of canola oil and ¼ cup of white vinegar and mix it together well.  Take a soft cloth and dip it into the solution and rub it in to any real wood then buff off with another dry cloth.  To my surprise, the hutch which has been glazed over with a white film for more than 13 years now looks like new.  I have used it on all my wood furniture, kitchen cabinets and many other solid wood items in my house.
