CNN/ Time Poll: Gingrich Leading 3 of 4 Early States

The former House Speaker has 43 percent support in South Carolina.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is leading in three of the first four states to vote in the GOP primary, according to a poll released Tuesday from CNN/ Time.

Gingrich took 43 percent of the GOP poll figures, pushed by Tea Party support, in South Carolina. Assumed frontrunner Mitt Romney was second with 20 percent in the poll, conducted with more than 500 voters between Nov. 29 to Dec. 6.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry grabbed 8 percent, Reps. Michele Bachmann and Ron Paul each at 6 percent, former Sen. Rick Santorum at 4 percent and former Gov. Jon Huntsman at 1 percent.
