County May Avoid Tax Increase
As Lexington County Council begins budget deliberations, county administrator Joe Mergo unveils his preliminary spending plan for next fiscal year.

Under a preliminary spending plan unveiled Tuesday, Lexington County would see it's budget increase next fiscal year, but without a tax increase for county taxpayers.
Under Mergo's plan, the county's budget would increase by $1.1 million, The State reported.
Mergo outlined a $101.8 million package for next fiscal year, which begins July 1. While the year-over-year increase would go largely towards deputies and firefighters, it is still $13.9 million less than requested for law enforcement, fire protection and other services, the paper reported.
