This event started when an amazing person and friend asked me if Caleb and I would have a fundraiser for Horizon of Hope and after I heard what they were planning on doing I agreed.
Don and Janice Slaton are raising funds to construct an orphanage in the Philippines. After several missionary trips to the Philippines their hearts lead them to this... They are building a set of units called Horizon of Hope Village, where 10 children will live with a Filipino couple as a family unit. They will shop, cook, and eat together as a family. They left the word orphanage out of the name so the children would not feel as they were in an institution but rather a real family. There are over 2 MILLION orphans in the Philippines and most of them are on the streets or even in prison!!! They want to provide them with an environment where they can be fed physically, spiritually and mentally and feel safe and secure! They will also do adoptions after they get certified. They have already became incorporated as Horizon of Hope....once they get the money for construction they can build it in one week! They have a contractor who will supervise...everything is ready to go.

Additional Info;
Jan and Don will not receive money directly, It will be sent through Global Outreach, Inc. (global-outreach.net). It is a small mission organization that is a 501 (c3) non profit. They work with and support orphanages/widows in several countries. They will keep records (which are open to anyone), and will also send receipts at end of year for tax deductions for anyone that would like to make a contribution directly.
