Gilbert Teen Charged in Restaurant Burglary
A 16-year-old boy is charged with stealing a cash register from Joey's Sub Shop in Gilbert.

A 16-year-old boy is being charged as an adult in the burglary of a restaurant on Main Street in Gilbert, according to the Lexington County Sheriff's Department.
Deputies say Edgar Martinez, 16, broke into Joey's Sub Shop at 537 Main Street around 1:20 a.m. on May 6 and stole a cash register.
They later found the cash register in a black garbage bag near a campsite in the woods near Hayes and Main streets, according to the sheriff's department. The campsite was located less than 100 yards from the restaurant and near Martinez’s home on Hayes Street.

Deputies arrested Martinez Saturday after receiving a call about a suspicious person on Hayes Street.
Martinez is being held at a pre-trial detention facility operated by the S.C. Department of Juvenile Justice. He is charged with second-degree burglary.
