A New Shop in Lexington's Old Mill
Sheila Fraga's new store in Lexington's Old Mill is an entrepreneurial homage to her late mother.
Lexington's Old Mill has a new tenant, and the inventory has a maternal feel to it.
No, it's not a maternity store. Actually, Cathleen's Daughter (the store) is both an homage to Sheila Fraga's mother, who passed away in 2010, and a means to pass along (and cash in) on a cache of antiques that she left behind in her passing.
"It's a lot of collectibles and high-end stuff. And it needed a home," said Fraga. "There was so much of it that I didn't know what to do with it, and I didn't want to give it away or throw it away -- so I thought I'd open up a store and sell it."
Among the treasures at the store are antique furniture and a wide array of housewares, such as fine China, among other finds (see photos).
In addition to offering Cathleen's treasures from a long life, Fraga shares space with Cheryl Walter, whose half of the store is a veritable vintage wonderland -- crammed with all manner of period jewelry, dresses, hats, gloves, and more.
"We've got a little bit of everything," said Walter.
In addition to selling, the store accepts consignments, but prefers to buy pieces for direct re-sale. The store is located in Lexington Old Mill, 711 E. Main St. in Lexington. Store hours are Tuesday thru Saturday, 10 a.m. -- 6 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. -- 3 p.m. (Closed Monday). Phone: 317-1315. Check them out at www.CathleensDaughter.com.
